Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive Cunnamulla
Fly from Brisbane to Cunnamulla via Rex Airlines. After arrival, enjoy brunch then an orientation walk at Cunnamulla Bushlands Reserve, a local hotspot for resident and migrant species. Settle in to Club Boutique Hotel and meet your guide over dinner. (Brunch, Dinner)
Day 2: Private Property: Threatened Species Focus
A pre-dawn start to a multi-generational sheep and cattle property northwest of Cunnamulla. The day targets Australian Painted-snipe (Endangered), Painted Honeyeater, Pink Cockatoo, and Grey Falcon across diverse habitats. Evening tally session with your guide. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 3: Adventure Way and Second Private Property
Head west along the Adventure Way to a second family grazing property. Explore mulga woodlands and waterholes targeting endemic species. These areas are never open to the public. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 4: Francvilliers Station
Explore a 50,000-acre property with diverse habitats across open plains, mulga, gidgee woodland, and Mitchell grass. Campfire dinner under the stars, followed by a nocturnal search for owls and nightjars. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Days 5 & 6: Lake Bindegolly and Currawinya National Parks
Two days exploring Lake Bindegolly National Park (180+ recorded species) and Currawinya National Park (228+ recorded species). Overnight in Thargomindah or Eulo accommodation. These parks host massive waterbird congregations during summer. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner each day)
Day 7: Local Hotspots and Farewell Dinner
Visit Allan Tannock Weir (100+ species), local evaporation ponds, and Bandy Paddock. Farewell dinner at Club Boutique Hotel with a final species tally. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Day 8: Farewell Cunnamulla
Leisure breakfast and time to explore Cunnamulla independently — heritage and art trails, the artesian hot springs. Return flight to Brisbane. (Breakfast)

Deposit and Payment
A $650 per person deposit is required to secure your booking. Deposits are non-refundable due to the airline ticketing policy. Final balance is due 90 days prior to departure. Cancellations 30–60 days prior incur a 50% fee; under 30 days, 100% of the final balance is forfeited. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.

What to Bring
Luggage is restricted due to aircraft weight limits on the Cunnamulla route. Pack light.
- Closed footwear or hiking boots (venomous snakes are active in summer)
- Wide-brim hat, long-sleeve shirts, sunscreen, and quality sunglasses

- All medications (pharmacy access in Cunnamulla is limited)
- Binoculars and/or camera
- Travel insurance is strongly recommended for remote travel
The itinerary may be adjusted due to road conditions, flooding, or weather. Off-road access to some properties depends on dry roads. Alternative birding sites are available if primary sites are inaccessible.

How large are the groups?
Groups are limited to 15 participants to protect access and minimise wildlife disturbance. Solo travellers and small groups of 2–4 are very welcome and common as once someone is booked we guarantee departures.
When does this tour operate?

Is this suitable for beginner birdwatchers?
Yes. The guide provides full identification support at every site. Beginners are welcome alongside experienced twitchers. The focus is on quality sightings and understanding the species and their habitat, not competitive listing.
What are the fitness requirements?
Moderate fitness is helpful. The tour involves walking on uneven terrain, early morning starts, and extended time outdoors in summer heat. Most walking is at a leisurely pace. Participants should be able to walk comfortably for 2–3 hours as well as stand in one place for long periods.
